Occasionally I like to create a flower image with a black background, and my material of choice to do this is black fleece of some call it felt, which has a texture to it that helps to diffuse any glare or shiny spots.. You can get it at your local craft or fabric store. Don’t use smooth or silky fabrics as they tend to cause some glare.
