One of my blog friends asked how I protect my camera when using it out in the cold weather and then bringing it inside. When you take your camera from a warm house out into the cold it’s not a problem, but re-entering back into the warm house can cause problems.

What I do is bring the camera indoors while in my bag, and let it sit in the bag until the warm air slowly penetrates the case, slowly warming the camera to room temps. If you bring the camera in from the cold and expose it to the warm air outside of the bag, it can form condensation (moisture) on the outside and possibly on the inside of the camera where we don’t want moisture to be. By the slow warming method in the bag it doesn’t cause the condensation. I let it sit about an hour to an hour and a half and then take it out of the bag. Some photographers may have other methods, but that’s how I do it.
