Dreaded Lens Creep

If you are like me and use a zoom telephoto lens for some of your close-up photography, you know about lens creep.  It happens when you have your lens pointing downward and you manually focus but the focus doesn’t hold and and it goes out of focus,  The internal part are being pulled down by gravity.  In the past I use to put a piece of tape on it to hold the focus ring in place.

One of my photo buddies on facebook told me about these rubber bands made to correct the lens creep.  Here is an image with the rubber band on my lens which puts pressure on the focus ring so it holds it in place.  What a simple idea, and I was very happy that Betty let me know about this product.  Of course you could maybe find your own rubber band the right size to do this, but I just paid the $4.99 and ordered mine from Hunt’s Photo. Works perfect.
