During the month of February, the Skunk Cabbage in the swampy areas at the parks near my home are where I start to see the first signs of life emerging. These little pods of the Skunk Cabbage plant have built in heating units that allow the pod to melt right through the ice and frozen ground. Very cool alien looking pods. Later in April very large green leaves with pop out of the ground and completely cover the ground with green.
