Help Out a Boring Flower Composition

Tuesday, November 11, 2025 | By: Mike Moats Photography

The most uninteresting way you can compose a flower shot is by putting the flower head in the top third of the frame, with the vertical stem underneath.  This kind of composition of a flower is what you would see in a flower identification book.  So you are just documenting the subject, and not creating any kind of art.  When you have one of these documented flower shots, give it a little help with a creative texture overlay.  I added the texture in Smart Photo Editor.
