I Leave the Macro Lens at Home

I almost never use my macro lens anymore.  With the new zoom lenses that have the ability to shoot in very close to the subjects you don't need a macro lens.  Plus, with the larger megapixel cameras we can't shoot a larger area of our subject and just crop out what we want as the finished size in post processing.

With this flower I wanted the center area, and with the zoom lens captured a larger framing of the subject and then cropped out what I wanted in post processing.

With the macro lens it takes more time moving the tripod back and forth to get your framing of the subject.  With the zoom lens you can set up the tripod and just zoom in and out to get the framing without having to move the tripod back and forth.
