1. I was born in WI but lived in the LP of MI from Jr High through my first year in college. I presently live in SE WI in Mukwonago and have been here for 32 years

2. I started shooting macro in 1975, back in the film days when you didn't want to waste shots - $$$. I owned a Canon FT and a 100mm macro lens that came with a 50mm extension tube. I took great numbers of mediocre images. I put photography down for a while but came back to it with the digital age.

3. I am a Canon fan-boy.  But don't speak ill of other brands. I primarily shoot with a Canon 1DX and a Sigma 180mm lens (My only non-Canon lens). I still use a Canon 180mm with a Canon Twin Macro Flash in low light. However, I do prefer the Sigma as it is stabilized and a tad faster. I also use a Canon 100-400mm which is also stabilized and renders great close-focusing ability. I only use it at 400mm. I recently purchased a Canon R5 and a RF 100mm macro lens. I haven't sorted it out yet, but it could turn out to be the ideal camera body for close-up/macro photography.

4. I only shoot nature images and my primary subjects are the 165 species of WI dragonflies and damselflies, of which I have imaged 137. I will shoot any subject that crosses my path in nature. As a pathological introvert I prefer my world in miniature, and as you might guess, I shoot alone 99.9% of the time - fewer spooked subjects.

5. I primarily stomp the fields, wooded streams, lakes, and ponds in SE WI.  I also make frequent trips all over the state in search of my favorite subjects.
