A couple places to visit while you are in the Cleveland area for the Macro Photo Conference in October is the Cuyahoga National Park, which is close to the hotel where the conference is held, and also not far away is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There is also a really nice hiking trail with lots of macro-opportunities within walking distance of the hotel.
