Swimming with Pigs, and Feeding Monkeys

In my post at the beginning of last week I mentioned I was missing in action here because I was on a cruise to the Caribbean.

On the island of Puerto Plata, I went on a tour where we got to feed the cutest little Squirrel Monkeys.  They jump all over you as you can see in this image.

Next, we went to St Thomas to do some snorkeling, and saw lots of colorful fish, coral and a large sea turtle.

Island of Tortola we hung out at a beautiful beach. I didn't swim as there were some jellyfish and didn't want to get stung.

Next was a day at sea, and on the last day we stopped at Norwegian's private island, Great Stirrup Cay and took a boat ride to an uninhabited island where we swam with pigs, they swim very well.

Here I am holding one of the pigs.  Pictures are not the greatest, the guides were taking the picture with a gopro, and I had to do a lot of work in post processing to get them this good.

The pigs are very smart, and the guides would call them by name, and the one called would swim to the guide, and the guide would throw a chunk of an apple out in the water, and we would hold on to the hips of the pig and it would pull us through the water.

I'm 200 pounds and it pulled me with ease.

After the pig got the apple, it would swim back it would get back in line with the other pigs until the guide called him out for the next swim for an apple. So cool how smart they are.

Had a great time, but the heat was brutal, upper 90s and high humidity. Wasn't my idea to go to the Caribbean in August but had to go when the grandkids were out of school.

The new guests that were coming on our boat heading to the same islands had to change course to different islands over by Mexico because a hurricane hit that area we just came from. Lucky us.
