Nature Photography Business – Tip #1

If you think that as a professional nature photographer you will be traveling all over the country having the time of your life shooting, think again. Since becoming a full-time pro, I spend about ninety percent of my time running the business, and ten percent shooting. You better learn to love the business end because you’ll find it will consume a major part of your day. Someone once told me that a well-known pro nature photographer commented, “The more time I’m in the field shooting, the more money I spend, and the more time I spend in my office, the more money I make.” I couldn’t agree more.  The few established nature photographers that can afford a small staff to help run their business will have more time to travel for shoots, but those photographers spent many years of hard work on the business end to get to that level. Watch for Tip #2.
