Hi, my name is J W Carpenter and about 10 years ago I closed my Architectural office and retired out of Houston to the small town of Livingston in East Texas.

I have been shooting photography off and on for most of my life, since my father gave me one of his old cameras.

I have been shooting Canon since I was about eighteen and presently shoot with three different cameras depending on how light I want to travel. My main camera is a Canon 850D with a Tamron 16-300mm lens. My kit for this camera also includes the obligatory filters, a set of extension tubes, and a 2X tele-converter. My second camera is a Canon M50 with a Tamron 18-200mm lens. And last but not least is my Canon SX740HS, which is a point and shoot 40x which goes from 18-960mm.

My favorite subjects are flowers and critters and anything else with details that catch my eye. I also shoot a lot of different genres, but macro is my absolute favorite.

Most of my macro shots are taken in my large country yard and are made possible by my wife who loves her flower garden, and by the cast of critters who love my wife's flowers. LOL As far as websites go, I am on an international site called Photo crowd and on Facebook under the name j w carpenter.
