Macro Photo Club Featured Photographer - Sally Hale

Where you are from.

I was born and raised in Ohio, but currently live in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.

How long you have been shooting.

I began shooting in 2014, when my husband insisted I learn photography before we went vacation to the Grand Canyon.

What kind of equipment you shoot with.

I use a Canon 7D Mark II.

Your favorite macro subjects to shoot.

I like shooting outdoors, so I prefer nature macros.  I have done some “in studio” shooting, but I think I am happier with natural light.

I like to shoot macros in nature that tell a story – butterflies on flowers, insects pollinating, the life cycle of natural subjects.

Favorite location to shoot.

Botanical gardens offer a variety of photographic subjects.  So do natural wetlands.  I don’t garden myself, but we do have some florals in the yard that attract pollinators and small birds.
